You can join the National Institute for Canine Ethics as long as you are suitably ethical and educated in dog welfare based methods.
As a Professional Member of NICE do not need to do any exams, your membership is based on your prior study and professional development. Your professional membership of NICE includes all member meetings and webinars along with prior recordings, plus your NICE and UK Dog Charter Badge.
As part of your membership The National Institute for Canine Ethics will require submission of Continued Professional Development.
Your Professional membership does not include access to the ABTC register without also having met the ABTC criteria through the NICE Assessment Process (which you can see below)
NICE Assessment Process for ABTC Applicants
For members who want to join the ABTC Register the following is available and relevant to your progression.

To cover the ABTC Knowledge and Understanding Criteria, members have the option to complete an approved ABTC course of study (at the relevant level) or take a fully supported online exam with NICE at the relevant level below.

ABTC Performance Criteria is assessed through the examination of Practical Skills at the relevant level below.
All exams are hosted in partnership with Canine Principles and assessed by dedicated NICE assessors.

Knowledge & Understanding
The examination of Knowledge and Understanding (full member theory exam) is applicable to Level 3 and Level 4 of the ABTC register. This is a written exam performed under test conditions. Successful completion of this exam confirms meeting of the Knowledge and Understanding Criteria at the relevant level.
Full membership enables submission for the ABTC register.
Performance Criteria
The examination of Practical Skills (full member practical exam) is applicable to Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5. This exam uses real-life case studies and a portfolio of practical evidence including written reports and videos. Successful completion of this exam allows members to progress to a Full NICE Membership of the same level.
Full membership enables submission for the ABTC register.
